Nintendo's partnership with Philips Electronics in the 90's never produced a CD add on for the SNES(which was the goal but Nintendo decided to back out) but it did, unfortunately produce three Legend of Zelda games for Philips CD-i console. The CD-i games are notoriously horrible, Faces of Evil and Wand of Gamelon both featured a full motion video intro(complete with terrible graphics) while Zelda's Adventure had a live action intro.
| Faces of Evil - The plot behind this game goes like this, "Koridai has fallen to Ganon and his evil friends! The gentle islanders are being transformed into blood-thirsty warriors. As you speed towards Koridai on Gwonam's magic carpet, you have only one thought: find Ganon and defeat him. Restore the peace and liberate the citizens of Koridai!" | The Wand of Gamelon - Zelda must save the day in this side scrolling adventure! "Duke Onkled, ruler of Gamelon, is in desperate need of help! His island nation is under attack by the evil forces of Ganon. Your father, King Harkinian, sailed to assist the Duke months ago and then disappeared. You sent Link to find the King, but now he is missing, too. You, Zelda, must set sail for Gamelon to save your father and Link, and to restore peace to the island!" | | |
Zelda's Adventure - Once again, Zelda must save Link! This time from a top down view. The intro to this game featured live action video. "It is the Age of Darkness. The evil Gannon has captured the young hero Link. Only Princess Zelda can rescue him. Her journey will be difficult, filled with many challenges and mysteries. Armed only with the advice of the wise court astronomer Gaspra, and the guidance of shurmak, Zelda must set out on her journey deep into the uncharted southeastern region of Hyrule, known as Tolemac. Before she begins, Gaspra warns her that the only way to save Link is to collect the seven celestial signs that Gannon has stolen and that she must overcome one final obstacle: Gannon himself. Once she succeeds, she gains the knowledge and strength to rescue Link and brings the magical land of Hyrule into the Age of Lightness." |
